Happy 100th birthday to the Marrickville District Lawn Tennis Association! Established in 1923 the Association is one of Sydney's oldest and few remaining grass court complexes, with six grass and two synthetic courts. I was pleased to be able to join Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Mayor Darcy Byrne, Club President Peter Sutherland, and many members recently, to celebrate the centenary of this iconic local group. Together, we were able to celebrate 100 fantastic years and to honour the many volunteers and players who have supported the club over the years, including the great Greg Gibson. A recent renovation means the facilities are looking brand new with updated floorboards, lighting, and ceiling fans. The new memorabilia wall provides a fantastic reminder of the long history of the Association. The facilities are great for a get together with friends or a place for a special occasion celebration. They have even played host to a magazine shoot earlier this year. I encourage everyone to check out the great facilities on offer and help them celebrate their centenary. Congratulations Marrickville District Lawn Tennis Association on reaching this historic milestone!
