I'm thrilled to share some fantastic news about one of our Inner West success stories— Addi Moves, has been featured in the British Journal of Sports Medicine! Addi Moves is a groundbreaking program offering free, trauma-informed, culturally responsive physical activity sessions for people from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds. What makes it truly special is that it was co-designed with the very people it serves—ensuring it's genuinely meeting community needs. The results speak for themselves: over 1,700 exercise sessions delivered, building trust, fostering resilience, and improving wellbeing for some of our most vulnerable community members. The program has also provided over 1,000 placement hours for UNSW Exercise Physiology students, creating real-world training opportunities. This recognition is well deserved for Associate Professor Simon Rosenbaum and Dr Scott Teasdale, the driving force behind the program, who have brought their incredible multi-disciplinary expertise to apply in our local community. Thank you to the many students, volunteers and participants who have helped make Addi Moves such a success. This is what community-led solutions look like—inclusive, culturally safe, and designed by the people who use the services. Congratulations to everyone involved!
