Congratulations to Reverse Garbage on their 50th anniversary! Reverse Garbage is a not-for-profit co-operative dedicated to promoting sustainability through the creative reuse of materials that would otherwise go to landfill. A group of inner-west school teachers, motivated to reduce their community's environmental impact, started Reverse Garbage by salvaging discarded industrial resources and turning them into school projects. Since then, it has grown into Australia's largest creative reuse and sustainability education centre, offering educational programs, a materials reuse store, and community workshops. In the last year alone, their work has diverted over 146,000 kilograms of waste from landfill, served more than 42,000 customers, and engaged over 10,000 education participants. Imagine that times 50! Materials have even featured in their fabulous Mardi Gras float! At the heart of Reverse Garbage is a vibrant community of volunteers whose energy, creativity and commitment bring the organisation to life. Their passion fuels everything from imaginative displays to hands-on workshops, inspiring others to see waste as a resource. Thank you to CEO Kirsten Junor, current and past Board members, and the many dedicated team members and volunteers who continue this vital work for our community and environment. Congratulations!
