A Minns Labor Government will make it easier for renters to have a pet in New South Wales, by introducing a new fairer and more streamlined application process.

The past few months of La Nina have been incredibly difficult for the people of New South Wales. Most obviously, floods in the Northern Rivers and across Sydney have devastated communities. A less visible problem has been the scourge of mould.

NSW Labor has called on the Berejiklian Government to extend New South Wales’ eviction moratorium to the end of 2020 to protect vulnerable tenants across the State.

Marrickville Legal Centre's Tenants Advice and Advocacy Service has been invaluable during the pandemic, supporting thousands of tenants through the financial and housing crisis created by COVID‑19.

Both renters and landlords have been pushed to the precipice by Covid-19 and unfortunately, the response from the Government is a case of too little, too late. 

Inner west tenants and landlords have been left in the lurch by the NSW Government’s rental package, with only 16% of landlords covered by land tax relief measures and tenants who have lost their livelihoods through Covid-19 lumped with potentially huge debt bombs through rent deferrals. 

The single most effective thing that we can do to give renters a fair go is to end no-grounds eviction, but after two long years of consultation the Government is failing to take this critical step, and that is not good enough.
