For many Sydneysiders, Haberfield is just another suburb that one drives past: a name on a map, a sign on Parramatta Road, maybe a place your grandma took you to in order to buy cannoli—really good cannoli. However, for the people who live in Haberfield it is obviously much more. Today I take this opportunity to speak about Haberfield and the importance of its community.

Jo Haylen, Member for Summer Hill made a speech in the NSW Parliament on 13 October 2015 about the heritage values of the suburb of Haberfield in her electorate and the impact of the Westconnex M4 East on Haberfield's heritage.

The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Westconnex, released today, is damning of the project’s impacts on the unique heritage value of Haberfield, Australia’s oldest garden suburb.
