Jo Haylen MP, Member for Summer Hill, today called on the community to defend the unique character of some of the inner west’s most iconic suburbs following the State Government’s release of the latest drafts of the Sydenham to Bankstown Corridor strategy. 

Ausgrid cowboys should protect our inner west trees. 

Every afternoon, every lunch break, every weekend, a battle is played out on park benches, sporting fields and baby swings across the inner west. Open and green spaces are at a premium and every square metre of grass is accounted for. Residents using these spaces in a variety of ways crash into each other, sometimes quite literally. 

Jo Haylen, Member for Summer Hill, has welcomed NSW Labor’s announcement of a plan to protect heritage as a huge win for the irreplaceable conservation value of the Inner West.

As the impacts of climate change become ever more apparent, we will see more and more extreme weather events and greater pressure placed on our emergency services personnel. We on this side know that it is the families, the poor, the vulnerable, the uninsured who will suffer most as a result. 

I would like to raise a number of objections to proposals for the exhaust stack depicted in the recently released Draft addendum to the M4 East Urban Design and Landscape Plan.
