Support legislated climate targets now!

Posted on Issues by Jo Haylen · August 17, 2022 3:40 PM

NSW Labor has introduced a Bill in the NSW Parliament to legislate net zero emissions by 2050 and at least 50% emissions reduction by 2030.

The Liberal Government voted against it!

NSW Labor has introduced a Bill in the NSW Parliament to legislate net zero emissions by 2050 and at least 50% emissions reduction by 2030.

The Liberal Government voted against it!

We need urgent action on climate change now.

Labor's Bill would have provided for monitoring and reporting progress towards NSW's emission reduction targets. It would have allowed for greater transparency and accountability as we move together towards meaningful action on climate.

We've seen the Albanese Federal Government act to legislate bold targets, working across the community to set a firm policy direction that gives industry - and the community - certainty.

We need a policy to legislate targets here in NSW to provide the same certainty at a State level.

I support legislating climate targets in the NSW Parliament.
