Shadow Minister for Transport, Jo Haylen has urged the NSW Government and Transport Minster Andrew Constance to extend paid vaccination leave for all transport workers across NSW and provide rapid testing and pop up vaccination hubs at all bus depots across Sydney after reports that two staff at Transport for NSW’s Leichhardt and Tempe depots returned positive tests.

Many other hard-working essential transport workers at Leichhardt and Tempe are now self isolating and vital public transport services across Sydney’s Inner West have been cancelled.

Ms Haylen said: “Sydney’s bus drivers and transport workers are our pandemic heroes. They do essential work every day to keep our city moving and the NSW Government must do everything it can to keep them and their families healthy and safe.

“Andrew Constance needs to make sure that all our bus drivers, regardless of whether they work for the private sector or the NSW Government, have access to paid vaccination leave and access to rapid COVID tests and pop up vaccination hubs. He should do it today.”

Ms Haylen, Shadow Minister for Roads John Graham, and Shadow Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Jenny Aitchison first wrote to Minister Constance on July 27 2021 urging him to provide more assistance for transport workers. As of today, Minister Constance has failed to issue a response.
