Dulwich Hill is relaunching itself, and challenging nearby Enmore to be Sydney's music capital, with a new indie music festival Relit, to be held over two weekends in May this year. Dulwich Hill Relit is a not-for-profit collective of businesses and organisations in Dulwich Hill, dedicated to promoting the extraordinary number of local venues, arts organisations and unique businesses. The festival showcases innovative and cutting-edge contemporary music and performance. One of the exciting features is the use of unusual and original spaces including laneways, a second-hand music store, a scout hall and more. Opening night featured an artisan night market, where visitors immersed themselves in a curated selection of treasures, including the craft of local artisans and designers. The markets were coupled with an Opening Night Salon in the historic Scout Hall, hosted by Living Room Theatre. Thanks to local business owners such as Rosa Cienfuegos (The Tameleria and Mexican Deli), Caroline Buckingham (Butchers Brew) and, Sarah McWilliam and Nicole Matak (Goldie's) for opening up their spaces to support this festival. Congratulations to Jim Flanagan, Katia Kullengren and fellow members of Dulwich Hill Relit for creating such a vibrant and novel festival.
