Transport Minister Andrew Constance must open negotiations with Sydney’s rail workers  and the Rail Tram and Bus Union to address their concerns about safety and conditions.

Transport for NSW and Andrew Constance have refused to provide a fair offer for a new enterprise agreement, and also ignored repeated safety concerns raised by rail workers, including on its plans to cut cleaning jobs and put unsafe New Intercity Fleet trains into service.

Shadow Minister for Transport Jo Haylen said: “The Government always talks about how much it respects our essential workers, but when it comes to talking safety and conditions they just don’t want to listen.

“It’s time for Andrew Constance to take his fingers out of his ears and sit down and negotiate with rail workers and the union. It costs nothing to listen, and these workers deserve to have their voices heard”
