Jo Haylen moves that this House:

  1. Notes with disappointment the Federal Coalition's continued rejection of a conscience vote on marriage equality in preference for a national plebiscite.
  2. Considers that the $160 million cost of a plebiscite would be better spent on health, education and services.
  3. Confirms the need for this issue to be resolved by representatives in the Australian Parliament.
  4. Recognises the tireless work of marriage equality campaigners and all community members engaging respectfully in this issue.
