Inner West Cricket Clubs are wrapping up what has been a wet and wild season. Despite the wet weather and vagaries of COVID-19, junior teams have had another stellar year, increasing the number of junior players, building skills and forging friendships that will last a lifetime. Marrickville Cricket Club, Summer Hill Cricket Club and Western Suburbs District Club all went from strength to strength this year and I warmly congratulate all the players, coaches, parents and carers and club volunteers and directors who have so much for a fantastic 2021-2022 season. One of the most extraordinary things about this season was seeing how resilient our local cricket clubs are. Teams were in a constant state of flux as players contracted COVID and it wasn't always clear whether games could go ahead. Still, everyone worked hard to give kids a great experience, no matter what. I know many were disappointed to not be able to play finals over the past few weekends due to the heavy rains and waterlogged fields, but I know players will have learned a lot and had a blast, and will be back in force next season for an even better year.
