Jo Haylen moves that this House:

  1. Notes the important work of stonemasons and heritage teams in preserving our unique heritage, including restoration of buildings at Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design and Marrickville Public School.
  2. Notes that the threatened closure of Heritage Services in October 2015 which will affect over 40 staff in total, including 27 stonemasons and heritage team workers, and the Government's privatisation agenda threatens the loss of these critical skills from the public service.
  3. Calls on the Government to retain Public Works in public hands, preserving these vital skills in the public service for the benefit of the community.
  4. Calls on the Premier and the Minister for Heritage to visit the yard in Alexandria and see the good work of Heritage Services.
