Jo Haylen MP, Member for Summer Hill, today welcomed the Transport Minister’s decision to fund the GreenWay Project, only a week after leaving all but $200,000 for the project out of the NSW Budget.

The decision follows years and years of community campaigning and is a significant win for cyclists, residents and nature-lovers across the inner west.

“Between this announcement and Anthony Albanese’s commitment to contribute $7 million, the GreenWay seems to be back on,” said Ms Haylen.

“The Baird Government has raised and dashed hopes before and I’m pleased the community has secured this important win.

“Both in my role as the Member for Summer Hill and as former Mayor and Marrickville Council, I know just how hard the community fought for this and I’m glad the Government has finally seen sense.

“I shared the community’s frustration that the project was largely left out of last week’s Budget, but this is a very welcome announcement that will benefit everyone in the inner west.

“Today’s announcement, albeit at the eleventh hour on the eve of a Federal election where Labor has promised to fund the project, is a very welcome one."
