Statement on Forced Mergers

Today's decision to sack democratically elected councils and replace them with an unelected administrator is the Liberal party at its very worst.

I stand with our local progressive councils against this sham of a process.

It was clear the Premier and Minister Toole intended to do this all along. The Fit for the Future process was a sham, with a clear ideological goal.

This is the Government’s way of doing business – ignore residents and weaken opposition to their privatisation and pro-development agenda.

Our local councils have done a fantastic job representing residents of the Inner West and our community deserves better than this.
