Jo Haylen moves that this House:

  1. Notes that the health of the Cooks River, which runs through Sydney's inner west, is a priority for residents and communities living along the length of the river.
  2. Notes that during the recent Sydney storms an overwhelming amount of rubbish, which would usually end up in the ocean, ended up on the banks of the Cooks River.
  3. Calls on the Environmental Protection Agency to prevent any reduction in the conditions of Sydney Water's Environmental Protection Licence when it is subject to renewal in July 2015.
  4. Commends the work of local community groups, such as the Cooks River Valley Association and the Mudcrabs, for their efforts over many years to make the health of the Cooks River a priority for Sydney Water and to hopefully achieve their goal of once again swimming in the Cooks River by 2050.
